TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno will not occupy his official residence on Jalan Denpasar in South Jakarta. He has allowed Jakarta residents to use the house. “The official residence of the deputy governor is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for majelis taklim [Muslim gatherings] and also to people and communities who need it,” Sandi said at Istiqlal Mosque in Central Jakarta on October 22.
Sandiaga has also allowed Christians to hold communion. Other religious groups can also use the premise. “It’s the people’s house and belongs to everyone,” he said. “So anyone reserves the right to use the house for the public interest.”
The Deputy Governor (Sandiaga Uno) earlier said that he will not use the official residence. He reasoned that his own house is close to his son’s school.
