Jokowi Targets Sinabung Relocation to be Completed by End of 2018

TEMPO.CO, Medan - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) targets that relocation for refugees of Mt. Sibnabung in Karo, North Sumatra to complete by 2018.
"[Relocation of] 1,873 [families] is expected to complete across 14 areas by the end of this year. The rest around 1,080 [families] will be relocated next year since the establishment of locations has been issued by Environment and Forestry Ministry (LHK)," Jokowi said in North Sumatra on Saturday, Oct. 14.
President Jokowi visited the established locations and farm areas provide for the refugees. As many as 370 houses and 470 hectares of land have been prepared.
National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) head Willem Rampangilei explained that relocation is carried out in 3 stages.
The first stage is completed by relocating 170 families in Saosar, then in the second step, 1,682 families and additional 181 families will be relocated independently in 14 areas targeted to complete by the end of 2017.
The third stage involves relocating 1,098 families in 2018. The relocation includes housing and farm area in which each family will receive half a hectare.
