Indonesian Citizens Threatened to Face Death Sentence in Malaysia

TEMPO.CO, Kota Kinabalu - As many as 11 Indonesian citizens (WNI) working in Sabah, Malaysia, are threatened to face deatch sentence for the crimes they have committed.
Consulate General of Indonesia (KJRI) in Kota Kinabalu Akhmad DH Irfan confirmed Friday, Oct. 13, that the citizens are threatened to face death penalty.
However, KJRI of Kota Kinabalu has provided legal aid by hiring lawyers to appeal against death sentence.
Out of 11 Indonesian citizens facing death sentence, three of sentence are final and binding (inkrach) and still await pardon from Sabah Governor.
Meanwhile, four other citizens are undergoing trial in Rayuan Persekutuan Negeri Sabah Supreme Court and the remaining four citizens are still under investigation.
Akhmad DH Irfan firmly stated that KJRI is committed to provide legal defense for these citizens. However, KJRI did not disclose the names of the citizens and their crimes.
