TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) chairman Moermahadi Soerja assured the public that political parties will not be able to put pressures on BPK auditors anymore.

His statement was a response to the statement issued by BPK's auditor VII Eddy Moelyadi in a court case regarding the bribery at the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration. Eddy revealed that BPK was pressured by a political party to provide a positive recommendation about the ministry.

“Please remember that opinions are formed from the bottom. The team discusses it first before issuing a recommendation. If they want to put pressure on us, they would have to do it up to the examiner’s leader,” said Moermahadi on Tuesday, October 10.

In court, Eddy admitted that he was once bullied for frequently issuing an official disclaimer. One of the ministries he gave a negative opinion on was the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration.

Eddy said that the political party that pressured him was the National Awakening Party (PKB), which proved to be effective since the Ministry received an opinion of ‘fair with exceptions’ instead of a disclaimer.

Moermahadi said that he guarantees that there will not be another case regarding political pressure and that the BPK will not cover up any internal pieces of evidence which could lead to an unfair recommendation.
