TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Industry Minister Airlangga Hartarto is optimistic that national industrial growth on the second semester of 2017 will be better compared to that of the first semester. Such optimism is derived from the implementation of a number of economic policies by the government.
Airlangga expects the deregulation carried out by the government is able create conducive investment climate and ease industrial actors to run their business in Indonesia. He is determined to boost the industrial growth of non-oil and gas processing as a sector that has given major contribution to national economy.
“We are focusing on down streaming industry since in addition to its role as the main drive of Indonesian economy, industry is able to exert multiplier effect by means of increasing additional value to local materials, employment opportunities, and foreign exchange revenue from exports,” he said on Saturday (8/10).
Domestic investment in industrial sector in the first semester of 2017 went up 2.80 percent into Rp 52.11 trillion compared to that of the same period last year with Rp 50.70 trillion. Meanwhile, foreign investment in industrial sector in the first semester of 2017 reached US$ 7.06 billion.
