Indonesia to Send 100 Trucks of Assistance for Rohingya

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian humanitarian body Aksi Cepat Tanggap (ACT) will send 100 trucks of assistance to Rohingya Muslim minority fleeing from Rakhine State, Myanmar.


“We’ll send 100 trucks of staple foods for the [Rohingya] refugees,” ACT director of integrated digital marketing Hafit Timor Mas’ud in Jakarta today, September 7.

Currently, as many as 30 volunteers from ACT work at Kanzarpara refugee camp in Bangladesh and two others are in Rakhine State.


According to Hafit, the assistance consists of food, clothes, and medicines. The aid will be sent to the Kanzarpara refugee camp as soon as the Bangladeshi authority provides the permit.


“The permit will be given in two weeks,” he said.

About 123,000 Rohingya people fled from Rakhine State to Bangladeshi to escape from persecution conducted by Myanmar military.


Based on the reports from a volunteer, at least ten Rohingya refugees, particularly children, women, and seniors, die every day. Most of them are sick and malnourished.
