TEMPO.CO, Singapore - Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi said that the Indonesian government will soon be sending its humanitarian aids for Rohingya people that have taken refuge in Bangladesh.
“I have already ordered our ambassador in Dhaka to provide essential needs to the Rohingya refugees,” said Retno during her visit in Singapore on September 6.
She said that the refugees had briefly requested for all-weather tents, which is really needed currently. Considering that the refugee camp can no longer accommodate them.
As soon as the humanitarian crisis started in Myanmar, Minister Retno was ordered by President Jokowi to personally help with the problem.
Retno traveled to Bangladesh to directly discuss in person regarding the Rohingya refugees and what Indonesia could do to help Bangladesh government in handling the situation.
