TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned operator Angkasa Pura II offers free porter services at Soekarno Hatta Airport during Eid al Adha (Idul Adha) holidays.
“Starting from September 1, we change the name of porters into airport helpers,” said Dewandono Prasetyo, Soekarno Hatta Airport spokesman told Tempo today.
As many as 805 airport helpers are deployed in Terminal 1 and 2. Prasetyo said that they are tasked with offering free luggage transport services. “Free of charge and no tipping,” he said.
Prasetyo said that porter services were previously available only in Terminal 3.
The passengers have responded well to the free services, Prasetyo said. Many were surprised and enthusiastic about the new services in Terminal 1 and 2. “Passengers used to complain about the lack of clarity on [the porter] services,” he noted.
The services are expected to improve comfort for flight passengers particularly during holiday seasons.
