TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A 18-year-old has been arrested for insulting the Police chief Tito Karnavian and President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi.
“The action taken by the suspect with the initials of "MFB" by inciting anomosity and insulting others in his Facebook account is a clear criminal offense and against the law,” North Sumatra Police chief Insp. Gen. Paulus Waterpauw said yesterday in a press statement.
MFB last month insulted Tito Karnavian, the National Police and Jokowi in his Facebook account. He likened Karnavian with an animal. He also said that the police had fabricated terror cases and dared them to arrest him. Moreover, he also said Jokowi was an animal.
The Communication and Informatics Ministry had blocked the account on July 19 after a police report. But it was reactivated six days later.
North Sumatra Police later tracked the Facebook account. “We found that the person behind the account under the name of Ringgo Abdillah is MFB, an 18-year-old. The Police also found that MFB illegally used WiFi,” Paulus said.
During the press conference, the suspect did not respond to questions on his insult to the police chief and Jokowi.
