Jokowi: Indonesia`s Competitiveness Ruined by Corruption

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi said that there is one factor hampering the government in taking Indonesia to a level where the country is acknowledged as competitive by the international community.

“What crushes our competitiveness is corruption, it is our common enemy,” said President Jokowi during a meeting with the House of Representatives (DPR) and the Regional Representative Council (DPD).

Before parliament members, President Jokowi invited everyone to fight against corruption. Jokowi also said that the government will continue to strengthen the existence of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK).

President Jokowi expressed his appreciation to the House for approving the Government Regulation In lieu of Law No. 1/2017 on access to financial information for taxation purposes. President Jokowi claims that the policy been effective positive since it was implemented.

In addition to waging a war against corruption, the government will create a bureaucracy breakthrough to anticipate rapid global changes in making Indonesia competitive at the international level. President Jokowi suggested that digital technology breakthroughs must be applied at the community service level to boost SMEs.
