TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ever since we were kids, we were always taught to brush our teeth every day in order for our teeth to stay white and strong. In fact, a diligent care of the teeth is not only important for appearance but also prevents various diseases. Recent research shows there is a link between oral health and cancer.

The study was led by Jean Wactawski-Wende from the University of Buffalo in New York, USA. As reported by askdrmanny.com, the researchers focused on the link between gum infections and cancer. They used data from 65,000 women surveyed between 1999 and 2003.

In their observations, the researchers found many of these women had had cancer seeds for a decade, precisely about 7,000 people. From the data known of those who have problems with their teeth also have relation to several types of cancer. The most common is food cancers.

The risk of women with problems with their teeth and mouth against lung cancer is also 31% breast cancer 13%, skin cancer 23%, and bladder cancer 73% Wactawski-Wende claimed the researchers could not explain why cancer can arise from poor oral health.

Now, after understanding the importance of oral hygiene, we certainly will not be lazy again about brushing teeth. To get the maximum oral hygiene, first understand the following explanation.

1. How many times should brush your teeth a day?

Be sure to brush your teeth twice a day with toothpaste containing fluoride and bristles that are not too harsh.

2. How to brush your teeth correctly?

Brush your teeth for a few minutes. Also point the bristles to the gums. Make sure the outside and in the teeth are cleaned, along with the tongue.

3. Should using dental floss?

Dental yarn can reach between the teeth and make the area clean and healthy.

4. How to keep a good toothbrush?

Do not cover the brush section. Many people do it, but this can cause the growth of germs and bacteria. Replace your toothbrush every 2-3 months.
