Govt Mulls to use Blackberry Security Software
Kamis, 1 Januari 1970 07:00 WIB
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - Communications and Information Minister Rudiantara said that the government is considering using a security software developed by Blackberry . Rudiantara revealed that he had been in talks with Blackberry’s representatives before scheduling a meeting with Blackberry CEO John Chen today, August 9.
“Many countries in the world use this software. German’s Chancellor and the state officials use it,” Rudiantara said at his office in Jakarta on Wednesday.
The minister explained that the app is used on smartphones; hence it is safe from cyber-attacks. “We’ve been in talks since April, and we will have another meeting, but not with John Chen,” he added.
Earlier today, Blackberry CEO John Chen consulted Rudiantara about the Indonesian market. According to Rudiantara, the reliable data security measure is necessary to prevent leaks. The minister said that certain state officials would be using the software should the plan be realized.
