TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Six children in East Java have been diagnosed as rubella positive based on the case base measles surveillance (CBMS) conducted by the local health agency.

“Of 50 community health centers in Jember, as many as 25 centers have conducted the CBMS, with 116 reported cases in total,” Diyah Kusworini, head of the disease control and environmental health at the Jember Health Agency, said on Monday, July 31, 2017.

Diyah believes that there is a possibility of undiscovered rubella cases in the regency. Therefore, Diyah hopes that the public will be more aware and ready to detect such a disease before it spreads.

“This incident occurs since the rubella immunization hasn’t been anticipated by the government. Hence, an immunization program aimed at preventing rubella and measles will be held simultaneously in August 2017,” said Diyah.
