TEMPO.CO, Manado - A police report has been filed against a woman, claiming to be the wife a top police officer, for slapping Manado airport official in the face, state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura 1 said. The video of the incident itself has been doing the rounds on social media.

A 12-minute video shows that a woman in black with sunglasses scolded a female official. The woman’s teenage daughter tried to calm her down by hugging her but she could not suppress her anger and slapped the official in the face, prompting the latter to scream and report the incident.

Yuristo Hanggoro, a spokesman for Angkasa Pura Manado chapter, said that the woman who slapped the official was a passenger of airline company Batik Air. He said that upon entering an x-ray checkpoint, she still had her metal watch worn.

“The woman initially refused [to take off the watch], and according to the procedures, officials may once again ask her to take off her watch. They had an argument before the slapping happened,” Yuristo said.

He added that after slapping the official, the woman eventually took off her watch. “But, in accordance with the procedures, the passenger was subsequently taken to the airport police to be processed,” he said.

After being interrogated by the airport police, the woman and her daughter were allowed to fly to Jakarta at 10 am local time.

Pressed on whether the woman was the wife of a top police officer, Yuristo said that he could yet confirm the slapping report because an investigation was ongoing.
