Police to Summon Jokowi Son Kaesang over Alleged Blasphemy

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The police will summon Kaesang, the youngest son of President Joko Widodo alias Jokowi, over alleged blasphemy and hate speech on social media. However, the summons will not be served in the near future.
In the meantime, the police will confirm and clarify the video recording submitted by the reporting party. "Insha Allah, we will clarify who Kaesang on the YouTube video is," Bekasi Police chief Sr. Comr. Hero Hendriatno said in Jakarta yesterday.

Likewise, Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Raden Prabowo Argo Yuwono expressed that the police will not offer special treatment to any individual in investigating a case. That include the President’s son. "We don't have any problem [with serving a summons]; we will launch an investigation," Argo said at Jakarta Police Headquarters yesterday.
Moreover, the police will also summon the reporting party named Hidayat.
Earlier, Kaesang was reported by a man from Bekasi called Muhammad Hidayat to Bekasi Police on Sunday. The report says that Kaesang had allegedly uploaded a video that contains blasphemy and hate speech.

Kaesang, Jokowi’s youngest son, does have a YouTube channel. He usually uploads his video to his account. The video being reported was allegedly uploaded by Kaesang Pangarep on May 27 titled #BapakMintaProyek.
Presidential spokesman Johan Budi said that Jokowi has not made any statement because the President is currently on a working visit to Germany.
