TEMPO.CO, Lamongan - The mudik (homecoming) travelers must be aware on the road in Lamongan District, East Java. Only three out of 59 railroad crossings located throughout the area are equipped with gates. The roads are known to be busy and 56 of them cross the busy Surabaya - Jakarta double track railway.

Local officials and authorities have been mobilized to secure the potentially dangerous railroad crossings. “We will guard these spots,” said Lamongan regent, Fadeli, on Tuesday, June 20.

Three of these railroad crossings are located in front of Lamongan’s 0812 military district command (Kodim) headquarters, across Muhammadiyah hospital, and in Babat.

The three area are located in the North Coast route (Pantura) which connects City of Surabaya - Gresik - Lamongan - Tuban - Semarang.

During the Ramadniya Operation, Lamongan police will mobilize 384 officers which consist of local personnel and cross-agencies in East Java.

Recent accidents that occurred in the region happened on September 29, 2016, which involved a train crashing into a car and killed six people.
