Police Disperse Brawl During Suhur on the Road in Thamrin

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Metro Jaya Police disperse a brawl among participants of sahur (pre-dawn meal before fasting)n on the road in Bank Indonesia area, M.H. Thamrin street, Central Jakarta on Sunday dawn at 02:30 (18/6).


“Be alert if you are passing through the area and the police are still handling this,” tweeted by a Twitter account of Metro Jaya Police’s Traffic Management Center (TMC) on Sunday (18/6).


A similar brawl was later spread and broke out in front of Gambir Station and National Gallery on West Medan Merdeka Barat street, Central Jakarta. Previously, the police warned the participants of sahur on the road intending to go to Kota Tua area, West Jakarta to disband and return home. However, the warning was ignored and a brawl originally broke out around Kesehatan Cideng street.


“Police have secured a number of banners and bamboos brought by the participants in Gajah Mada street, West Jakarta,” tweeted @TMCPoldaMetro. Polisi also confiscated sickles the participants carried. Joint security operation conducted this evening was led by Taman Sari Police chief, West Jakarta.
