TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) chief commissioner Muliaman Hadad said that he has urged his subordinates to review the impact of Qatar crisis on Indonesia’s economy.

“As of today, we have not noted anything that concerned us. But we have to watch it very closely. We are aware of it but the size will continue to be monitored,” Muliaman said yesterday at the OJK building in central Jakarta.

According to Muliaman, Qatar row happened out of nowhere. He said that the dynamics of the situation is quite high. “The situation is floating. We will see how big the impact will be. It’s a concern of the OJK,” Muliaman said.

Earlier, the Energy Ministry Oil and Gas Director General I Gusti Nyoman Wiratmadja Puja said that geopolitics, including Qatar row, has a massive impact on oil prices, including the Indonesian Crude Price (ICP).

“The situation in the Middle East (Including Qatar) has led to rising crude prices. So, geopolitical factor has a massive impact,” he said. As such, the government is proposing the ICP at US$55 per barrel in the 2018 state budget (APBN).
