TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Jokowi will soon launch the agrarian reform program in the form of land sharing and social forestry. The people's land sharing program is aimed at an equal economic distribution.
The program will be conducted after Ramadan ends. “It's in the preparation, [hope] it will be ready after Eid. President Jokowi will also attend the launch during the final week of Ramadan,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution said Thursday, June 9.
According to the minister, the government plan to share new lands outside of Java such as in Bangka Belitung. The purpose is also to reduce the population in Java Island.
Other than that, the agrarian reform will also adopt a cluster system such as housing or lodges. He gave an example, 10 out of 100 hectares of land that is available today would be specially set for vegetable farms and the rest would be shared for agricultural commercial crops.
The government has also developed post-harvest programs such as a 15x15 meter barn equipped with tile floors for parking the vehicles used for distributing the crops.
“We will also ask businesses to be the off-taker and we’ll monitor them so that they would not be the owners (just selling them),” said Minister Darmin.
Regarding the security of the program, he revealed that the land certificates would be locked. Therefore, those who receive the land would not be able to know which land would they get so they could not sell it.
About the social forestry program, the Forestry and Environment Minister Siti Nurbaya said that there were at least 15 locations where people would only be loaned parts of lands to be utilized.
