TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Former House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Ade Komarudin says that he appreciates the establishment of the Pancasila (five Indonesian national principles) Education Presidential Work Unit by President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi. However, he criticizes its practices, which for now only affects state organizers.

“I thank President Jokowi who’s responsive towards the country’s foundation, despite it only affects state organizers,” Ade said on Thursday, June 1.

Ade views that the formation of the institution is important in suppressing doctrines other than the Pancasila, but the educational material must not only affect DPR and the People’s Consultative Agency (MPR).

“I’m one of the people that are saddened by the fact that a regional election nearly tore apart the country,” he said.

The materials that are discussed in the work unit include three elements, namely country, public figure, and religion.

The rising number of intolerance acts that threaten the country’s unity forced President Jokowi to establish this program. It will also be delivered through comics, video blogs, and social media.
