Jokowi Celebrates National Book Day with Hundreds of Students
Kamis, 1 Januari 1970 07:00 WIB
TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - President Joko Widodo, better known as Jokowi, celebrated the National Book Day together with 500 elementary and junior high school students at the Presidential Palace today, May 17.
The president read them a story at the palace’s central yard where they all gathered.
“I will tell a story about Lutung Kasarung or the monkey that was lost,” says the president. Lutung Kasarung is an Indonesian folklore originates from West Java.
The students from 10 different schools seemed enthusiastic in listening to the Jokowi's storytelling. The atmosphere and interaction between the president and the students looked natural as they sit on a large carpet on top of the palace’s green luscious grass.
By the end of the storytelling session, Jokowi delivered the message of the story to the students, “to pursue our dreams, we must work hard and study hard too.”
