Court to Issue Verdict in Ahok's Blasphemy Case

TEMPO.CO , Jakarta - The North Jakarta District Court will today issue a verdict in blasphemy trial of Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok. “The panel of judges will issue a verdict; the hearing will start at 9:00 pm,” North Jakarta District Court spokesman Hasoloan Sianturi told Antara this morning. He does not expect to see people attending the trial at the Agriculture Ministry building because the verdict hearing will be aired live. The public prosecutors have recommended that Ahok be jailed for one year plus two-year probation period for violating article 156 of the Criminal Code. Earlier, Ahok was charged under article 156a, which carries a sentence of 5 years in jail, and article 156 of the Criminal Code, which carries a sentence of 4 years in jail. ANTARA
