TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Minister Wiranto said that organizations that spread ideologies against the state ideology Pancasila (five national principles) must be dismantled.

“What if there is an ideology that contradicts with Pancasila potentially turning into a resistance against the country and government? If such an organization does exist, then it must be dismantled,” Wiranto said on Thursday, May 4, 2017.

Pancasila, according to Wiranto, has been collectively agreed—through numerous considerations—as a state ideology that accommodates the people of Indonesia. “Pancasila has freed this country from a crisis and united our differences,” Wiranto added.

Therefore, the former Indonesian Military (TNI) Commander said that he will not allow any organization betrays the State ideology. “This will not be allowed legally and intellectually. We will prevent Pancasila to be taken over by another ideology,” Wiranto said.

Previously, the National Police refused to issue permits for a number of events proposed by Islamic group Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). The National Police views that HTI is planning to establish a caliphate based government.

National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Rikwanto said that the idea of a caliphate endorsed by HTI is currently being studied by the Coordinating Political, Legal, and Security Affairs Ministry.
