TEMPO.CO, Kupang - Presidential Chief of Staff Teten Masduki dismissed the rumor that President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo would reshuffle his cabinet in the near future.

The reshuffle issue came to the surface after the President said he would replace his minsters who cannot meet the government’s targets.

"Let me clarify that the context is to motivate the ministers in order to continue working hard for the benefits of the people," Teten said in East Nusa Tenggara on Friday (28/4).

For the record, Jokowi hinted that he would reshuffle his cabinet when attended an event hosted by the Indonesian Ulema Council on Saturday (22/4).

It was then rumored that Jokowi was not really satisfied with the performance of the Agrarian and Spatial Planning Minister regarding the government’s target in agrarian sector.

Nevertheless, several days after that, Jokowi asserted that there would not be cabinet reshuffle in the near future.

Teten added that the government’s targets next year, especially in the agrarian sector, are indeed ambitious. Therefore, he added, the President continued to push his ministers to work to the best of their ability.
