Govt Establishes Nunukan as National Food Center in Border Area

TEMPO.CO, Nunukan - The Ministry of Agriculture has established Nunukan, North Kalimantan province as the national food center in the area bordering Malaysia.
Director for Fruits and Horticulture of the Ministry of Agriculture, Sarwo Edhy, here, Thursday, stated the establishment of Nunukan as the food center in the border is a government program of building Indonesia from the peripheries.
For that, he visited Sebatik island to see the potential of agriculture and obstacles that still faced by the local people.
He also had a dialogue with local farmers to find out their problems in developing the agricultural sector.
"The results of the dialogue will be reported to the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman," he said.
