TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Google Indonesia today features a speacial doodle to celebrate the birth of Saridjah Niung Bintang Soedibjo: a woman wearing glasses and kebaya and singing with children carefully listening to her.

The woman known as Ibu Soed was a composer of popular children songs such as "Naik Delman", "Desaku", "Naik-Naik ke Puncak Gunung".

The youngest child out of 12 siblings, Soed was born in Sukabumi on March 26 1908.

Her talent in music drew the attention of Indonesian-Dutch J.F. Kramer, who later became her foster parent.

Ibu Soed then studied music and singing and she finally could compose songs. "Burung Kutilang", "Tik-Tik Bunyi Hujan" and "Nenek Moyang" are among her popular songs in addition to national songs she composed, such as "Tanah Airku" and "Berkibarlah Benderaku".

As a musician along with W.R. Supratman, Ibu Soed also played an instrument to accompany the performance of Indonesian anthem "Indonesia Raya" as it was first played in a historical event Youth Pledge on October 28, 1928.
