TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The U.S. Vice President Mike Pence will visit Indonesia next month, a source said. The Indonesian government has confirmed the planned visit.
The Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Wiranto said that Pence will meet with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to discuss terrorism and other security issues.
Aside from security issues, a source from the Indonesian government revealed that Pence is expected to discuss contract row between the Indonesian government and US-based miner Freeport McMoRan Inc.
Pence will also pay a visit to Japan, South Korea, and Australia.
