TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -Newly installed Indonesian Ambassador to Japan Arifin Tasrif plans to boost the Wonderful Indonesia brand in a bid to increase the number of Japanese foreign tourist arrivals in the country.
"We will promote (tourism) several times along with the Ministry of Tourism as well as with the national carrier Garuda Indonesia to facilitate smoother transportation from Japan to the tourist destinations," Arifin said after being installed by President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) at the State Palace in Jakarta on Monday, March 13.
According to Arifin, typical Indonesian delicacies, as the tools for promoting culinary diplomacy, are also viewed to draw the interest of foreigners, especially the Japanese, who have a long-standing history with Indonesia.
Additionally, he will showcase country's investment potentials to Japan in order to develop the tourism sector in Indonesia.
Arifin also shed light on various Japanese investments in infrastructure and energy projects in Indonesia.
