Indonesia Gears Up for IMF, World Bank Annual Meetings

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia is gearing up for IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings in October 2018 in Bali. Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said he will provide adequate transportation for the annual meeting.


“The Transportation Ministry’s role is to provide transportation services, particularly airports,” he said after a coordinated meeting at the Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs building in Jakarta on Monday, March 13, 2017.


Also present at the meeting was the Communication and Informatics Minister Rudiantara, the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chairman Thomas Trikasih Lembong, and the Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly.


Information Ministry Rudiantara said that he will convert the hotels where the delegates would stay as their offices during the IMF and World Bank Annual Meeting 2018.


The Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan has been named by President Joko Widodo or Jokowi as the chairman of the organizing committee of the annual meeting.


Luhut said that he would try to boost Indonesian tourism sector during the event.


He said that he is also tasked with attracting companies who will attend the meeting to invest in Indonesia.
