Junior High Student Stabbed to Death in Bekasi Student Brawl

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A brawl broke out on a bridge above Jakarta-Cikampek toll road, Cut Mutia Highway, Rawalumbu district, Bekasi, on Saturday (11/3).


As a result, a student at 41 Rawalumbu Public Junior High School, Oliver Vito (14), got stabbed and died.


A witness, Ridho (32), said that it began when the victim’s group hitchiking on a truck was intercepted by another group of students when they were in front of Islam 45 University, Bekasi.


"The truck was pulled over, then the victim’s group was asked to get off the truck," Ridho said on Sunday (12/3).


Both groups were involved in a brawl. A number of road users tried to stop them. However, the brawl kept on going.


The victim’s group was cornered and ran away. The victim fell behind and was ganged up. The victim, Ridho said, was stabbed on his chest.


“Once he collapsed, the group splitted up,” he explained.


The victim was rushed to Hosana Medika hospital, Rawalumbu, to get medical treatment. Unfortunately, he died on the way to the hospital.


"The victim suffers from stabbing wounds on the chest," Bekasi police spokersperson Com. Erna Ruswing stated.


Erna added that the police are still investigating the case.Two witnesses involved in the brawl are also being questioned.
