TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Gubernatorial candidate Anies Baswedan expressed optimism that supporters of Agus Yudhoyono-Sylviana Murni will vote for him in the second round of the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election.

"We have established communications with Agus-Sylvi. But the communications at the party level will be handled by party leaders," Anies said in a press release received in Jakarta on Friday, February 17, 2017.

The former Education and Culture Minister viewed that supports from Agus-Sylvi were expected to achieve a shared goal, which is to have a new governor and make a change for the Capital.

"Agus-Sylvy and Anies-Sandi have a shared vision, which is to bring new leadership in Jakarta," Anies added.

Anies revealed that he and running mate Sandiaga Uno have prepared a strategy to ensure victory in the second round of the election. However, the implementation of the strategy will depend on the number of votes.

Anies admitted that the strategy will remain focused on several programs, such as job opportunities, improvement of education quality, and control of basic necessity prices.

"Based on a study that we conducted, almost all residents have heard programs that we have planned. More than 60 percent [of the residents] agreed and support [the programs]." Anies claimed.

Therefore, Anies and his campaign team will strive to disseminate the programs to Jakarta residents.

The Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPUD) reported on Thursday, February 16, 2017, that 90.85 percent of the ballots had been collected from 11,832 polling stations. The data showed that incumbent candidate pair Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama and Djarot S. Hidayat gained 2,161,009 votes (43.30 percent), and Anies-Sandi gained 1,985,488 votes (39.78 percent).

Meanwhile, Agus-Sylvi gained 844.049 votes (16.91 percent), which means that the candidate pair will not be competing in the second round of the Jakarta Gubernatorial Election that will be held on April 19, 2017.
