TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Reports claimed that there were significant gaps between the number of ballots compared to the number of voters in several polling stations. However, the Jakarta Elections Committee (KPUD Jakarta) stated that they have not received any official reports on the matter.

"One of the causes was because of the increasing numbers of voters in the DPTB [additional voters list] in a number of polling stations in Jakarta," said Betty Epsilon Idroos a commissioner of KPUD Jakarta on Thursday, February 16, 2017.

According to Betty, voters listed in the DPTB were only provided one hour to cast their votes, which was from 12:00 AM until 1:00 PM Western Indonesia Time. They were mandated to bring a number of requirements such as Electronic ID (E-KTP) and a family identity card.

The increasing number of additional voters exceeded the number of reserve ballots that was available in KPUD Jakarta's office. "The [number of] ballots was based on the number of the permanent voters list [DPT] in a polling station plus 2.5 percent of the number of voters," Betty said.

In the event of ballot shortage, Betty explained that officials should direct voters to another polling station. "Additional voters can switch to other polling stations in the vicinity, as long as it's in one area and community area," Betty said.
