TEMPO.CO, Samarinda - East Kalimantan Governor Awang Faroek Ishak said he will invite former California governor, who is also a Hollywood actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger to the Governors' Climate and Forests Task Force (GCF Task Force) Annual Meeting in the city of Balikpapan on September 25-29, 2017.

“Arnold Schwarzenegger has promised me that he will come if GCF is held in East Kalimantan in order to enliven the event,” Awang Faroek said in Samarinda on Sunday, Feb. 12.

The east Kalimantan governor said Arnold Schwarzenegger will be invited since he was one of the co-founders of the GCF.

“Arnold Schwarzenegger and I [among others] had co-founded the GCF,” Awang Faroek said.

According to Awang Faroek, Arnold Schwarzenegger's presence will make East Kalimantan proud and would be an honor for The Terminator actor.

“We will invite him as an individual not [as part of an] institution. I hope he will be willing [to come] and I still have his personal number. We expect Arnold to give a speech on environmental conservation, particularly to anticipate global warming,” Awang Faroek explained.

Some 35 member states and province will join the GCF Task Force 2017.

The provinces of East Kalimantan, Central Kalimantan, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Aceh, West Papua and Papua will participate in the event.

The province of Barcelona and Mexico, among others, will also join the event.
