TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chief of the Jakarta Police Inspector General M Iriawan has instructed police officers to arrest anyone involved in money politics practices during the Jakarta Governor election next week.
"The intelligence said there would be money politics. Arrest those involved in money politics," Iriawan said in Jakarta on Saturday.
He added the police had coordinated with the Jakarta Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) to monitor the election.
In addition, to secure the election, the police will be supported by the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI) and other institutions, Iriawan said.
Iriawan also reminded the police to maintain their neutrality and are not involved in politics, as it will diminish the trust of the people.
