TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian government will file an appeal of the World Trade Organization’s (WTO) court ruling on the winning of the United State and New Zealand’s legal suit. Earlier, both countries pleaded Indonesia’s policy on tightening the agricultural and cattle products import.
"We’ll file an appeal since several regulations being sued by the US and New Zealand had been amended during the legal process," said the Director of International Trade Cooperation at the Trade Ministry Iman Pambagyo to Tempo Monday, December 26, 2016.
His party also said that several regulations being sued by the two countries could still be adjusted by considering the welfare of Indonesian farmers, Iman added.
The US and New Zealand’s complaints submitted during the administration of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY). The government argued that the WTO’s judgment was expired since the policy was effective back in 2011 or during SBY administration while the government has now applied deregulations in various sectors.
