TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Metro Police have arrested several activists this morning over coup plans. President Jokowi had said very little over the arrests.
On the sidelines of a site visit to the Gelora Bung Karno Stadium renovation project, Jakarta, the President told reporters to ask question about the matter directly to the National Police chief General Tito Karnavian. “Ask the Police chief,” he said in Jakarta on Friday, December 2.
Jakarta Metro Police have reportedly arrested several activists for allegedly planning a coup. The arrests were made separately this morning before the planned Jakarta rally in the National Museum (Monas) area.
“Some have been arrested by [Jakarta] police and still being questioned,” the National Police Public Relations Division chief Insp. Gen. Boy Rafli Amar told Tempo at the Jakarta rally.
Among those being questioned and taken into custody by authorities is activist Sri Bintang Pamungkas, who was arrested at his house in Depok this morning. Police have also arrested activist Ratna Sarumpaet and musician Ahmad Dhani.
