TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - National Police chief Gen. Tito Karnavian said that he did not ban transportation service providers to facilitate transportations for participants of the upcoming rally on December 2, 2016.

“Tomorrow, I will hold a video conference with my subordinates to inform that transportation companies will be allowed to provide transportations for protesters,” Tito said at the Indonesian Ulema Council Office in Central Jakarta on Monday, November 28, 2016.

Previously, the National Police called on transportation companies not to facilitate protesters to depart for Jakarta, as no agreement had been made in relation to the upcoming rally. Tito earlier was in communications with a number of community leaders to call on citizens to cancel their plans to Jakarta.

“However, with excellent communications, we have agreed that the rally will be conducted at the National Monument. So, it won’t disrupt the public order,” he said.

The next rally is scheduled to be held on December 2, 2016 starting from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The National Movement to Save the Indonesian Ulema Council’s Edicts (GNPF-MUI) advisory council chairman Rizieq Shihab confirmed that there will be no agendas other than urging law enforces to arrest inactive Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama for allegedly committing religious blasphemy.

“We’re calling it a super peaceful rally. This rally is aimed at praying for the country to remain secure and prosperous,” Rizieq said.
