TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (SME) requested the government to lower tax amnesty tariff. "SMEs suggested that [tax amnesty tariff] should be lower than 0.5 percent," said Cooperatives and Small-Medium Enterprises Minister Anak Agung Gede Ngurah Puspayoga on Friday, November 25, 2016.

In addition to tariff rates for business entities, SME business players also suggested that the individual tax amnesty rates should be lowered from the current two percent. According to SME representatives, 0.5 percent tax amnesty tariff rate is more suitable for individual taxpayers.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo previously invited 30 SME representatives from various business sectors to the State Palace to collect feedbacks related to capitals, markets, and production issues. "We want to strengthen UMKM's potential," Jokowi said.

Following the meeting, Minister Puspayoga said that the President will be reviewing UMKMs’ requests. Puspayoga said that the requests will be relayed to the Directorate General of Tax. "Hopefully we'll have the results on Monday [next week]. We'll wait," Puspayoga said.
