Tourism Ministry to Attract 12 Million Young Foreign Tourists

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism Ministry have targeted to attract 12 million foreign tourists and 260 domestic tourists in 2016. Ten destinations are chosen to meet the target. "Ministry of Tourism are currently running intense advertising," the ministry's assistant to the deputy of tourism marketing strategy, Watie Moerany confirmed on Friday (21/10).


Watie went on by saying that one of marketing strategies is carried out by involving public figures serving as influencers in promoting Indonesia’s tourism. “Pevita Pearce is one of public figures who promote tourism in Indonesia,” she claimed. It is hoped that the public figures can atrract young tourists.


Watie exemplifes Toba Lake as one of the best destinations that will atrract a lot of tourists. “35 percent of visitors of Toba Lake are in within the range of 18 to 25 years old,” Watie added.


In addition, To boost the number of young visitors through advertising, Watie further added that 2 percent of budget is allocated to such post. “Website and social media are also used to advertise the destinations,” she said.
