TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recorded that banks experienced a 9.14-percent year-on-year (yoy) profit growth to Rp74.61 trillion in August. This is slightly slower than July's growth rate of 9.79 percent.

According to OJK-published banking statistics (SPI), commercial banks' earnings in August 2016 amounted to Rp74.61 trillion, up from August 2015's Rp68.36 trillion.

Meanwhile, credit disbursement slowed down a little by just 6.83% to Rp4,146.29 trillion.

Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI) finance director Haru Koesmahargyo said the company seeks to maintain the profits they booked in quarter three. In semester one, BRI's profit rose 1.51 percent (yoy) to Rp12.4 trillion.

Meanwhile, Bank Danamon's finance director Vera Eve Lim said their quarter-three profit is growing well, although lending disbursement has been slowing in the beginning of this year's last quarter.

In the first semester, Danamon posted a profit growth of 38.49 percent to Rp1.73 trillion, whilst credit disbursement dropped 8.32 percent to Rp124.92 trillion.
