TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Flood and landslide hit the District of Pangandaran, West Java, on October 9, 2016. The natural disaster has caused one child of Ciparakan, Kalipucang, died.

“The flood didn’t cause any fatality. The landslide has caused one 7-year old child died. The victim was struck down by the houses' debris that wrecked after being hit by landslide materials,” Chief Executive of the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) District of Pangandaran Nana Ruhsena on Monday, October 10, 2016.

He explained that there were seven out of ten districts in Pangandaran that were hit by similar natural disasters such as tidal flood, flash flood, and landslide, namely Cijulang, Parigi, Sidamulih, Pangandaran, Kalipucang, Padaherang, and Mangunjaya districts.

The tidal flood and flash flood affected 2.000 houses which are spread in the seven districts, Nana said.

“The flood is starting to recede. Now is at the height of 1 meter, before, it reached the heights of 1,6 meters,” Nana said.

Earlier, the flood disconnected the main road connecting Pangandaran-City of Banjar due to the flash flood and tidal flood.
