TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan has inaugurated a humanitarian center, in collaboration with the provincial administration and Asian Muslim Charity Foundation (AMCF).

"The center is expected to help people in dealing with social problems and natural disasters. I hope it will be beneficial for all people," the governor said on Tuesday.

AMCF Director Ahmad Faisal Siregar said the Muslim Asia Foundation is an international non-profit organization which engages in social problems.

He added that the humanitarian center is the first to be established in Indonesia, and it will be a pilot project for such organizations to operate in various regions in the country.

Ahmad said the humanitarian center was opened by AMCF in 2015.

"The humanitarian center will provide moral and material aid in the fields of education, health and peace for people who live in remote areas in Indonesia," he explained.

Before establishing the humanitarian center in West Java, AMCF had been contributing to humanitarian missions in Indonesia, such as in education, infrastructure construction and religious programs.

AMCF now has 19 educational institutions across the country, as well as 1,321 physical and non-physical projects, such as mosques and orphanages that are managed by 431 volunteers.
