TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Director General of Tax, the Finance Ministry, Ken Dwijugiasteadi said he is not yet satisfied with the results of the first period of the tax amnesty program because the amount of reported assets and retribution fees are still small.

“I’m not yet satisfied with the amount, not good enough, I will never be satisfied,” he said Tuesday night in Jakarta, as quoted by Antara news agency.

Ahead of the second period of the tax amnesty program Ken is hopeful that more taxpayers would join the program.

He, however, has yet to reveal his strategy to boost taxpayers participation in the second period.

The first period of the tax amnesty program, which boasts the lowest rate of retribution fee, will end on September 30 and will be followed by the second period starting October 1.

In the second period of the tax amnesty program, repatriated or declared assets will be subjected to a 3 percent retribution fee, whereas declared offshore assets will be subjected to a 6 percent retribution fee.

As of September 27, the Directoral General of Tax had received 207,676 asset declaration letters (SPH), generating retribution fees of Rp54.2 trillion, consisting of non-SME individual taxpayers of Rp47.4 trillion, SME individual taxpayers of Rp1.80 trillion, non-SME entity taxpayers of Rp5 trillion, and SME entity taxpayers of Rp65.4 billion.

Meanwhile, the total repatriated and declared assets are Rp2,521 trillion, comprising declared domestic assets of Rp1,719 trillion, declared foreign assets of Rp666 trillion and repatriated assets of Rp128 trillion.
