PON Opening and Closing Ceremony Cost Rp90 Billion

TEMPO.CO, Bandung - West Java Government Secretariat for Administrative Assistant Affairs and Chairman of the Executive Board of the 19th National Games (PON) Muhammad Solihin said the total budget prepared for the opening and closing ceremonies of this year’s PON reaches Rp90 billion.


For the opening ceremony which will take place tonight on Saturday (17/9), the cost is Rp30 billion, he said.


"The cost is calculated from the preparation exercise of thousands of dancers since the beginning of this year's event," he said.


Costs of conducting the ceremony, he claimed, is only 20 percent or about Rp30 billion of the total budget for the opening and the closing.


Committee of this year’s PON prepares 3,000 dancers to enliven opening ceremony heldtonight at Bandung Lautan Api stadium.


In addition, the committee has also pepared a large-scale video mapping with fireworks.


The 19th PON is scheduled to be opened President Joko Widodo, accompanied by West Java Governor Ahmad Heryawan.


Host West Java is still leading the medal tally at PON this year. The province has won 23 gold medals, 12 silver medals and 14 bronze medals from a number of sports that have been held since the last four days. Jakarta trailed in second place with 13 gold medals, 13 silver and 13 bronze.
