TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama inaugurated the development of a low cost apartment in Daan Mogot, North Jakarta, on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

The low-cost apartment, built on a 17.6-hectare land, is expected to be a green building in a green zone.

"The smallest one is a 36-type unit, and all units are installed with gas pipes. Therefore it’s a green building. It will win an award from the United Nations," Ahok said on Thursday, August 25, 2016.

In Daan Mogot, the Jakarta administration has built eight blocks consisting of 640 units of low-cost apartment. The development was started in 2013, along with the development a great mosque that can accommodate 15,000 people.

The development is financed by the Jakarta Budget and developers, PT Sampoerna Land and PT Mulia Karya Gemilang.

"We will offer the apartments to people who live here [in Daan Mogot]. The old [apartments] can be allocated to people who will be relocated to normalize the river," Ahok added.
