TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The president director of state-owned PT Bank Mandiri Tbk. Kartika Wirjoatmodjo noted that the bank has accommodated roughly Rp30 billion of redemption fees from its customer who participated in the tax amnesty program.

The figure was based on accumulated reports of 22 individual accounts of Bank Mandiri customers as of Wednesday, July 27, 2016. “It comprises both declared [assets] and redemption [fees],” Kartika told Tempo at Jakarta Stock Exchange Building, Sudirman, Jakarta, Thursday, July 28, 2016.

Kartika explained that the redemption fees were generated from domestic customers. Because Bank Mandiri’s overseas branches would only begin accomodating redemption fees and declared assets next week.

The amount of redemption fees will continue to increase, Kartika said. “It’s still only Rp30 billion, it’s small, but it will improve.”

More so, because the customers’s response had been positive and they had been very enthusiastic during the dissemination of the tax amnesty program, Kartika said. “A lot of customers had asked [about the tax amnesty program], there were hundreds of them. But for them to report [their assets], etc., it would take time.”

The tax amnesty program has been rolled out for 9 days. The Tax DG director for Education, Service, and Public Relations Hesto Yoga Saksama reported that the total repatriated funds have reached Rp1.78 trillion. The government aims to raise Rp165 trillion from tax amnesty program in the revised 2016 state budget (APBNP).
