BNN Uncovers 1,015 Narcotics Cases in 2015-2016 Time Period

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) has uncovered 1,015 narcotics cases involving 72 drug syndicates from 2015 to June 2016.
Some 1,681 suspects entangled in the cases were Indonesian citizens and foreigners, Antara reported.
BNN has also uncovered money laundering offences from drug trafficking, seizing over Rp142 billion in assets.
The evidence being confiscated in the past year and a half, among others, were 2.8 tons of crystal meth, 707,864 ecstasy pills, 4.1 tons of dried marijuana and 69 hectares of marijuana field.
Whereas in a bid to reduce demand for narcotics, the BNN has rehabilitated 42,429 drug addicts in drug rehabilitation center from 2015 to June 2016.
In addition, the BNN has launched the alternative measures of public empowerment by training 705 residents in various life skills to oversee drug-prone areas.
BNN has recruited 19,854 people for anti-drug task forces across Indonesia comprising of students, college students, private sector, government agencies and community members.
