Ministry Allocates Rp 3 Trillion for Tourism Marketing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-The Tourism Ministry has allocated Rp3 trillion to promote Indonesian tourism in foreign countries. This year's budget is 77 percent higher than last year's Rp1.7 trillion.
Nia Niscaya, the ministry's deputy assistant for market development in Europe, Middle East and Africa, said the budget is raised to strengthen Indonesia's brand as a tourist destination and get more people to know about Indonesian tourism.
The ministry will also use the budget to run promotional and marketing strategies, including by meeting Indonesian tourism companies with overseas buyers.
"The biggest allocation is for branding activities, which accounts for about 50 percent of our entire marketing budget," Nia said in Jakarta, April 7.
Indonesia's tourism currently ranks at number 47 in the world. To climb up the list, the ministry aims to attract more tourists from overseas.
