TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -The government is currently constructing ten tourist destinations with new Bali concept, one of which is in Samosir Island, North Sumatra. The development covers infrastructure including Silangit Airport and highways.
Cooperative and Small Medium Enterprise Minister Anak Gede Ngurah Puspayoga said the development of the tourist destination will not be open to major investors. “Let the people be the boss and manage it,” he said in a statement on Monday, April 4, 2016.
According to Puspayoga, the development would create village destination. He encouraged local government to provide budget for repairing homes to be made as tourist homestays. He expected that the growth of village destination would increase business productivity of the region.
Puspayoga also invited local government to give opportunities to artists and humanists to participate in the development process. Artists and humanists will continuously be sent abroad to promote Indonesian tourism.
He gave an example at the world-famous Bali Island that has a lot of artists who promote the tourist destinations of the island to the world.
