TEMPO.CO, Jambi - Mount Kerinci in Jambi province has been for climbers since a week ago following the increasing volcanic activity of the mountain.
Andi, an official at Resort 10 climbing post on Sunday confirmed that the mountain has been totally closed for climbers based on the recommendation from the mountain’s observation post.
He added that since last week, the mountain, which has the height of 3,805 meter from the surface of the sea, has spewing hot ashes from its crater.
In the meantime, Indra, Head of Mount Kerinci Observation Post, said that the mountain is in the alert status level II and the Volcanology and Geological Disaster Mitigation Center (PVMBG) has also warned residents living near the mountain, climbers and tourists not to get near the mountain in the radius of three kilometers from the mountain.
